Recently WhatsApp released a new feature on both Android and iOS that enables users to take a poll in a chat. The Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp now allows users to measure consensus by making use of polls in both groups, as well as in personal or individual chats.
The new Poll feature on WhatsApp is presently accessible only on the mobile version, in both Android and iOS. Nevertheless, it is predicted that Meta will soon allow it on WhatsApp Web.
WhatsApp permits users to add up to 12 options in the poll. This new update enables users to cast their votes by simply clicking on the available option. Users also have the option to choose different options available under the poll, if the original poll creator allows them that choice.
The poll is updated on its own each time a new vote is cast. Normal users or people who have not set up the poll but only cast their vote can see the data related to the poll. Users just need to go to the poll and click on “View Votes”. They can then view poll details like who has given the vote and what choice has been made by the others.
Take a quick glimpse at how to use the new Poll feature on WhatsApp:
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your mobile phone.
Step 2: Now open the individual chat or group in which you want to set the poll.
Step 3: After that, click on the attach button which is present at the side of the message box and tap on the Poll icon.
Step 4: Add your question in the Create Poll window and then options to choose from. You can add up to 12 options.
Step 5: You can also click and drag the ‘Hamburger ‘ icon present on the right side of the poll options to change the sequence.
Step 6: Once you add questions and options, tap on the green send option.
Woo-hoo! You have your first poll created in front of you!
