Instagram Adds New ‘Boost’ Promotion Option for Reels Clips.

Instagram will now give advertisers the ability to improve their Reels footage with a new ‘Boost’ option as it doubles down on short-form video.

According to Instagram, reels are the format that is expanding the quickest as more users watch them for entertainment, to hone their interests, or to discover new businesses. In order to reach new audiences and promote more engagement, we’re announcing today that businesses may turn their reels into advertising. Qualified Reels now have a ‘Boost’ option on the bottom function bar, as shown in the aforementioned video, which will lead you through the quick promotion process.  If you’re lucky, it could be a wise strategy to create viral trends on purpose, but there are certain things to consider before spending money on Reels footage.

Instagram asserts To reach new customers, Boosted Reels may appear in the feed, Stories, Reels tab, and Explore page. To be promoted, your Reels videos must be under 60 seconds long and have a 9:16 aspect ratio. Reels with GIFs, interactive stickers, copyrighted music, or camera filters are not eligible for boosting.  Reels shared on Facebook are also disqualified, which is something you may want to keep in mind.

Locate the reel you want to promote in your profile grid and select “Boost Post.” After your ad has played, check your Insights to discover which ads generated the most engagement.  The fastest-growing content category on Instagram is reels, so it’s something to take into account. Your short video clips’ success will rely on its substance and on how well you comprehend what your target audience wants to watch and engage with. Although I wouldn’t recommend promoting poor Reels that aren’t gaining popularity organically, it could be good for boosting already popular clips. Even if more people watch Awful Reels (and if they’re terrible enough, they may even become memes), it won’t help your business. I wonder what this means for brand reach via Reels and whether Meta is sticking to its regular plan of decreasing it to encourage businesses to spend money on advertising. Over the next months, keep a check on your Reels statistics for a decline.
