Early after Musk declared his plan for a new Twitter version, people expressed their disappointment over his choice to charge USD 8 per month to keep or get a verified account.
After experiencing criticism for his decision to cost Twitter users USD 8 per month to keep or get a verified account, Tesla CEO Elon Musk turns up with an enigmatic tweet that a person gets what he pays for.
Speaking to Twitter, Musk said, “you get what you pay for” and tagged it as a “spoiler alert” for Twitterati.
Adding that the service would comprise other advantages including post longer videos or audios, choice to edit tweets, and lesse ads, other than the verified badge, he expressed that this subscription model was the quick fix to the spam accounts that have filled Twitter.
In spite of that, this resolution did not sit well with many netizens arguing that it is not fair, and was of the belief that it would lead the way to an enormously disorganised situation.
Originally, it was figured out that the cost for blue tick would be kept at $20 (approximately Rs 1,650). Even popular author Stephen King tweeted that he would leave Twitter if this plan is executed.
In reaction to Stephen King’s tweet, Musk wrote, “We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?”
Responding to the disapproval on Twitter, in one of his tweets withstanding the $8 pay, Musk said“To all complainers, please continue complaining, but it will cost $8,” thus acknowledging the resolution.
