Instagram Adds New Business Search Tools Within IG Maps

A new map search function that Instagram introduced will allow users of the app to find nearby establishments and learn more about them. IG users can explore popularly-tagged venues nearby with the new Map Search function, and you can filter the locations by particular categories like restaurants, cafés, and beauty salons.

According to Instagram:

The dynamic, searchable map gives users a more individualized and immersive experience while learning about well-known establishments and seeing what’s close by, thanks to tagged posts, stories, and guides the Instagram community provides. Users may also identify related places when looking for certain hashtags on a map.

As tagged, public Stories and posts provide extra information and reveal what each company looks like based on UGC and other IG users’ experiences; you will now be able to discover more location-based material.

This may motivate businesses to encourage users to tag them in their postings and keep their company information current in the app.

To increase visibility, several companies have already started including “Instagrammable” components, such as setups for shots on site and more aesthetically attractive décor and surroundings to encourage users to share.
