Snap Expands its Commercial Music Options with More Local Artists

Snapchat is adding more tracks to its Sounds Library as it seeks to capitalize on the growing popularity of audio elements after the TikTok transition.

According to Snap, there will be plenty of additional audio options in the near future.

Snapchat claims that the new deals will bring a diverse spectrum of local artists’ music to its Sounds library, giving Snapchatters more chances to interact with audio elements by embedding licensed music into their conversations and Snaps.

Snapchat started its Sounds Library in 2020 and has slowly increased its music options since then via a variety of publisher partnerships.

Snap has now entered into music licensing deals with Universal Music Group, Universal Music Publishing Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Music Publishing, Warner Music Group, Warner Chappell, and “over 9000 independent music publishers and labels.”

In addition, via its collaboration with NBCUniversal, Snapchat has broadened its audio options, including audio clips from famous TV series.

Snap has also included new audio sync and lens-matching audio options, offering you more sound-on capacity and methods to integrate audio elements into your Snap creations.

Again, TikTok’s impact has boosted this feature, with social media users becoming more used to auditory experiences. And, knowing Snap’s young audience, it’s a vital factor for the app to consider, which is why the app’s rise in music options is significant and might lead to greater discovery and engagement.

Snap’s commercial audio options have not changed as of yet, but its increased licensing deals could open more possibilities in the future.
