Twitter Experiments with New Quick Boost Option for Tweets

The problem with Twitter no longer having a comms department is that there is nowhere to go to confirm information on the app’s latest upgrades and features, as well as where each is accessible, and so on.

For example, Twitter appears to have introduced a new in-stream boost option for tweets this week, which allows a fast and simple method to promote your tweet without launching a full ad campaign.

As seen in these screenshots posted by Jonah Manzano (and shared by Matt Navarra), the new boost option would be accessible directly from a tweet. You’d just tap through, choose a budget, and enhance your tweet right away.

Which seems to be new, yet also to be familiar.

It’s similar to Twitter’s Quick Promote feature, but much more simplified, with new images and an updated UI for boosting a tweet right from the details screen.

So it seems to be a new addition – but with no one at Twitter to ask, it’s difficult to clarify details about the option.

But, as far as we can tell, this is a new Twitter ad procedure that might give another means to specify an aim, a budget, and basic targeting parameters in order to reach a bigger audience in the app.

Which might be advantageous depending on performance, and there may be certain tweets that you just want to boost and distribute to a wider audience without creating a full campaign.

It might also be a nice way for Twitter to make a few extra ad bucks, and it could be worth experimenting with to see what results you get based on the simplified launch procedure.

If you have access to it. We’d ask Twitter where we could find this, but we can’t. So you may see it on the app, or you might not.

Thus, Twitter 2.0 is a mystery.
