WhatsApp rolled out New Profile Picture feature on Group Chats

Few days ago, WhatsApp only showed the name and phone number of the participant along with their message. Even though the name is clear enough to understand, it can often be misread.

The new profile picture update has solved this problem for users. If a WhatsApp user does not have a profile picture or has kept it private, the group members will only see a default icon.

The Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp has introduced profile pictures in group chats to clarify the sender’s identity and has made it very easy to recognize participants.

This new feature will come in handy for users that are part of very large WhatsApp groups and do not have all the contact numbers saved in their contact list. The WhatsApp profile photo will go along with the text bubble in the chat. The enlargement of WhatsApp groups from a maximum of 256 members to 512 members also authorizes such a feature.

Not to forget, there is no switch to disable or enable the feature. This means that it is going to be enabled by default.

In related news, WhatsApp is also working on animated avatars for profile or display or pictures.
According to a new report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new update that will permit users to set up an animated avatar as their profile picture.
The publication even tweeted a few days ago and said, “The ability to set up an avatar to use as a profile photo is under development on WhatsApp beta for Android.”

Soon, all WhatsApp users will be able to use an avatar as their mask while making video calls on the platform.
